Medications @ Sprout

Last updated on 29 Jan, 2026

Dear Parent/Guardian,

New York State Law prohibits campers from keeping any medication (prescription and over-the-counter items such as vitamins, aspirin, analgesic and antihistamine) in the bunk area. For over-the-counter items: the health center will provide these as needed, if they are taken sporadically. Over the counter medications that are taken chronically must be packaged as per below:

All medication administered at camp must be pre-packaged by J Drugs, Sprout Lake’s pre-packaged medication vendor. Sprout Lake requires all parents/guardians whose children take ANY chronic or over the counter medication chronically to register with J Drugs, a vendor that will dispense and package all of your child/ren’s medication for the duration of the camp season.

-ALL MEDICATION must go through J Drugs, including inhalers, liquids, etc. If you need an exception, you must reach out to Camp Sprout Lake DIRECTLY.

-Any medication brought to camp on opening day without prior notice will incur a $100 charge.

-Campers may be dismissed from camp for keeping medications in their bunks. Sprout Lake will NOT be distributing or administering vitamins or supplements in any form to our campers except melatonin.

Do not send in prescriptions for Miralax or growth hormone injections. Please see below for more information:

MIRALAX:
Due to the overwhelming amount of campers who take Miralax, Sprout Lake will now be providing Miralax to all of our campers who need it. Camp will be charging a fee of $10 for each camper (per week) that will be taking Miralax during the summer. In order for your camper to have Miralax at camp you must enter it in to the medication section of the Health History form on CampInTouch. If it is not written in your child's Health History, we will not dispense it.

INJECTIONS:
Camp Sprout Lake charges $50 per session for any camper that takes an injection which includes growth hormone or allergy shots. Injections will be given each day at the same time, directly after dinner. In order for your camper to have an injection at camp, you must enter it into the medication section of the Health History on CampInTouch, and bring the shots to camp with a prescription and orders from the doctor. If it is not written in your Health History we will not be able to give the injection.
